Thomas Allison Donnell

 

Tom Allison Donnell M.D. married Marjorie Jane Walker 30 May 1948  and Jean Savage Ringo Aft. 1973. During WWII he served with the Vanderbilt Hospital Unit. He first went to North Africa, and then to Anzio, Italy.

DeSoto--Dr. Thomas A. Donnell, who practiced medicine in DeSoto for over 30 years, died Tuesday, Nov. 22nd at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County.  He was 69 years old. Visitation begins at the Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in DeSoto from 7-9 p.m. tonight and from 2-9 p.m. tomorrow. Funeral services, with the Rev. James Powell, officiating, will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at the home.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 

Dr. Donnell was born Dec. 26, 1913 in DeSoto to Robert E. and Rachel (nee Reppy) Donnell.  His parents preceded him in death.  His brother Dr. Harold E. Donnell is a long-time practicing physician in DeSoto.  Also a son Dr. William Donnell practices medicine in Rogers, Arkansas.  In addition to his brother and son, survivors include: his wife Jean Donnell who lives in Hillsboro; children, Susan Rowe of DeSoto and Jeff of Atlanta; a sister, Virginia Pardon of Farmington; and nine grandchildren.  Dr. Donnell was a Captain in the Army in WW II and was a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church in DeSoto.

 

Note: Dr. Donnell’s daughter, Susan Rachel Donnell, states that at the time of his death, Dr. Donnell only had two grandchildren; Shalmah Marjorie Donnell, daughter of Robert William Donnell, M.D., and Andrew Lindell Rowe, son of Susan Rachel Donnell and Stevan Hamel Rowe. Dr. Donnell’s oldest son is named Robert William Donnell.
