Dr. Robert L. "Bob" Cayse, 93, of Festus died Dec. 4, 2020, at his home. Dr. Cayse was a dentist in Festus for more than 40 years. He was a deacon, elder, and member of the Church Session of Grace Presbyterian Church in Crystal City. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He was a member of the Missouri Dental Association and St. Louis Dental Society, a past president of the Festus R-6 Board of Education, a past president and Paul Harris fellow of the Festus-Crystal City Rotary Club, a volunteer at the Jefferson County Rescue Mission and a recipient of the Twin City Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen Award. He enjoyed making jewelry and stained glass, training dogs and hunting quail.
Born Aug. 6, 1927, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Ethel (Pipe) and Linden T. Cayse. He is survived by his wife: Madge (Windham) Cayse; a daughter: Laura (Mark) Vaughan of Oakville; a son: Robert W. (Maria) Cayse of Madison, Ala.; a brother: Raymond T. (Dojie) Cayse of Woodland Hills, Calif.' six grandchildren: Brian (Alden, Andrew and Joseph (Emma) Cayse, Adam (Kristin) Ellington, Adriana (Dustin) Hoover and Chase Freeman; two great-grandchildren: Edie Cayse and Stephen Hoover; and numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy (the late Joe) Vreeland. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, followed immediately by funeral services officiated by Pastor Vicky Michaels. Burial will be at Gamel Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian or the American Heart and Stroke Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
